What can I do if a auto body shop does bad work?
I was involved in a accident about 2 years ago. I took my car to a body shop for the repair. Once I took delivery of my car I told them the repair was incorrect. I brought it back and they repaired it again. I asked them to remove the over spray from the previous repair. Not only did they not remove it they added more over spray. Now 1 year latter the repair is bleading through the paint and looks horrible. I don’t want to deal with them anymore. My insurance said they can’t do anything because the claim is between me and the other insurance company. Anyone have any ideas on what I should do. I live in Missouri.
What you should do is give them Bad Advertising. Have some signs made up for your car, there are magnetic ones, or you can tape some on the side, to highlight the damage, and print the name of the Bodyshop on it with their phone number. You can then drive by their shop slowly several times a week, slowly, if there are customers, and just drive around in general. It won’t help you with your repairs, but it will give you some personal satisfaction, and spread the word they don’t do good work. There are many disreputable or poor-quality body shops out there, and there’s not much you can do about their work, especially if it takes a year or more to reveal the poor quality. All you can do is take a personal stand to educate others, and give them bad press, and hope it makes a difference in THEIR wallet one day.
