Someone backed into my car parked in front of my house?
My vehicle was parked one house down across my home on the public street yesterday. Between either 4:30 and 5:00pm my car was hit. Its obvious it wasn’t side swiped by a passing car since the damage seems to be a soft, contained impact (from the direction of the suspected drivers (my neighbors neighbor) personal driveway; we live on a small, cramped and tight street so backing out is always a problem). The neighbors have a large new model lexus SUV with a severe scuff and deep scratch matching the same paint and height as my vehicles damage left on my car. Its blatantly obvious to me they hit my car, however there is the universal theory of chaos and co-incidence where they may deny that they hit my car to avoid repair/insurance costs, my question is if deny it what should I do from there?
The paint and matching damage are the keys here. Call your insurance company and coordinate with them. They will likely send you to the police.
One question though. From the angle of the damage, would it have been possible for your car to have caused the damage? Be aware that they might counter your accusation if this was possible… From what you wrote, I think not, but thought that I would ask and also point out this possibility for your consideration.
