Spray Aerosol Auto Painting without Mask in Open Area safe?
I’ve done aerosol spray painting on my car (touch up) several months ago on three weekends without a mask/respirator outdoors in open area. I tried to not inhale the stuff as carefully as I could: like I would hold my breath and spray then walk away to let it dry, but I could still smell the stuff in a distance (and the distance I kept away shortened after each spray because I was getting a little impatient). I am becoming a little concerned now about possible health effects. Should I be concerned? For whatever amount I inhaled or consumed, can my body get it out of my system naturally? I read that some types of paints are more dangerous than others. I got my paints from automotivetouchup dot com, basecoat, clearcoat, primer and rubbing compound… I am sure I’ve inhaled some being around that sprayed area, but should I be overly concerned? thanks
Yeh man. you are probably alright but next time get a respirator. I mean you’re looking at 20 bucks for a decent one. why not just get one and not worry about it right? i’m a mechanic but worked in a shop at a painting company and we had to take blood tests every couple months to check for lead and stuff like that. and let me tell you some of that stuff can screw you up
