What to do about woman who car dinged my car?
I came out of a store yesterday morning to see that I had a huge ding on my door. The car was still parked next to me. I was very angry, but stuff happens. So I drove over to the body shop to see about fixing it. They gave me an estimate and I headed home. It just so happens when I got off at my exit right next to me was the lady who hit my car. She had her window down so I said to her are you aware you left a dent in my car? She said yes, pulled over gave me her home address and number and said just get me a copy of the estimate, She didnt want to file a claim over a small dent. At about 9:00 pm, she called my home phone and said that after she left work a few mintues ago she noticed she had a dent on her car too and that I should have to pay for her dent. My car never touched her car, and I think she is just trying to get out of paying for my dent. She says my color car paint is on her car, but she had it parked at work all day. Does she have any ground to stand on?
in these kind of situations, you should have really called the police right away. even for a small dent, if you want the person to pay for the damage, you MUST get a report. Now it will just be your word against hers. It does sound like she is trying to get out of it though. Take pictures of it before it gets fixed incase you want to take this to court. You could call her back and say it is outragous that she is blaming you for the damage to her car. Theaten to get your “lawyer” involved. this should make her pay up, because if the lawyer gets involved, her insurance company WILL find out about it. You can also contact YOUR insurance company, although this might cause your insurance to go up, but THEY will fight for you and make her insurance pay.
