Washing your car after being buffed/ Polished?
I just polished my car for the first time. Now i need some assistance on if i should change my methods of wash or what. The paint is nice and smooth i plan to not wash it for a week. But primarily i ask ” Should i wash it like i do normally, which is once a week or should i cut down? ”
Don’t skip the most important step! After you polish it, apply wax to it. Usually do two coats, in case you missed any spots, the second coat will get those. Now to your question: wash it, you kinda have to eventually, when it needs it, but use LESS “Car Wash” soap. Buy that at the auto store. It is made for washing cars. A half gallon of it will last you for several years. It’s well worth the price. Then buy a chamois and DRY it and then set it in the shade. In fact, make sure you wax it in the shade too. That will keep your finish nice. You can also use products called, in general, “Quick Detailer”: its a spray on type wax, where all you do is spray it on and spread it out; no removal is necessary. I’ve found McGuiar’s Waxes and Polishes to be best. Especially McGuiar Yellow Wax, I think it is called #28, used for show and race cars for extra shine. Expensive, not really. Worth it? YES!
