hi iv just finished repairing my bumper and its ready for primer the colour of the car is silver so what is the best primer to use and what colour primer will be best and can u give me some tip how to get the primer ready for paint as i want to save some money by prepping it myself the taking it to the body shop to get the top colour of silver on it

Hi , grey primer is a must for silver, put a few nice coats on, its beter to do a few medium coats rather than one heavy, there’s less chance of getting runs which can be difficult to flat out. Heres the bit that nobody ever does and is why most home repairs are poor and full of scratches, this is how we professionals do it, so make sure you do!it will be worth it .when the primer is dry get a can of matt black aerosol and spray the whole bumper(or at least where youve primed)with a light coat.this is called a guide coat. then get a bucket of soapy water and a few sheets of 800grade wet and dry paper, then flat the primer untill the guide coat is gone and your left with a nice smooth primer surface ready to paint.you will see that the guide coat highlight any imperfections in the primer,i.e scratches.
