preparation for two pack over existing paint- 800 or green plastic scourer?
I’m spray painting my car with two pack black, and I have heard of people using the non scratch kitchen scourers to prep the painted surface before painting. I am worried that if I do this that I might be able to see the fine scratches under the black paint. Should i use 800 grade wet and dry, or will the paint fill in these fine scratches left by the scourer?
Hello. You can use as coarse grade as you like, for the first sanding (80-120 would be good to start with). Then gradually resand the entire area with a finer grade (200). Then repeat with 800. This should smooth out any scratches you made with the first sanding.
This is assuming that you are planning to completely sand down the original paint before applying the new one?
