What’s the best way to repair small “door dings” in my car before getting it painted?
The body shop wants to charge me an arm and a leg to “pull” the small dings from my 02 Mitsubishi Galant. This is going to almost double the cost of the paint-job. I’ve seen info-mercials about the little suction contraptions, do they work? I appreciate you taking the time to answer. Take care!
No. They are gimmicks and nothing more.
Bent metal stretches and must be shrunk by being hammered out using a hammer and dolly, or filled and sanded. Both are labor intensive, just filling/sanding is cheaper.
“Dent Wizard” and similar mobile operations do work extremely well on small dings. I’ve seen them pull 4-5 small dings for $200, and they come to you.
As a very last resort you can tell your body shop to paint over them -it’s your money and your car!
