tips for car painting?
after finishing all the body work, i would like to paint my car. is there any tricks or tips that i should know before attempting this? the theme of the car is a rally car, any suggestions for paint designs, and any tips or secrets to a good paint job

well jojo speak for yourself heres a few tips
1.use a guide coat to help insure a smooth surface
2.use compressed air to clean any nooks and crannys
3.throughly wash the car with a detergent after body work is done
4.clean with prepsol or final wash and dry with tack rags
5.mask the car with at least 7 day release painters tape an masking paper not newspaper
6.wash the car again with final wash and a tack rag
7.if painting inside wet the floor being careful not to get car wet
8.follow directions
9.use catalyzed paint
10.take your time
11.remember if you mess up remove runs with masking tape (sticky side)as soon as possible let tack then touch up
12.if your a beginner stay away from black and metallics
13.1/4 masking tape is used for stripes then stich paper on to that with 3/4
14.pick simple designs that match your level of expertise
15.when in doubt ask someone with experience
16.start painting on top (roof hood trunk)
theres been lots of books written on this subject usually found at your local library or autoparts store and one more thing dont set your expectations to high and remember put enough paint on so if you do make a mistake you can wet sand and buff it out.
