1972 Mach 1? Worth it ?
Here’s the details. 1972 True Mach 1 Marti Certified, 302 V8, PS, FULL GAUGE Package, Floors and Frame are SOLID as a rock, Have 99% of all parts to put together, Bucket Seats all there, insides nasty, but not all tore up, C4 Tranny still insatlled, needs full restoration,
First of all, is this car even worth restoring? Secondly would i really need to get an engine that cost $4000? Is there any other engines i could put in it?
Lastly whats your output on these 72 Mach 1’s ?

I would go for it if you want it. I paid 3K for mine about 3 years ago and it sounds a lot like what you’re describing (though it had the original 351C)
Put about 12K into mine to get it right/nice. Be aware of course that 71-73 the HP goes down every year from 71. For example mine has the 351C that only puts out 170hp stock. We had to mod it a little to get decent HP out of it. The 302 is bottom of the barrel/base so you might have to mod it a bit more heavily than I did w/ the 351 to get decent power for normal driving.
Also they aren’t really speed machines, I treat mine more like a cruiser/weekend car than anything. They’re still cool though. You’ll get lots of attention cause you don’t see as many 71-73’s as other gen mustangs. As far as value, they are just starting to become collectable, give it a few years and you may get 20-25K for a nice one, once the market picks back up. And the only real downside I can think to them is w/ the fastbacks you can’t see a $@%&in thing out the back,lol
