Do this sound like a car i should buy: 1971 camaro ss?
the camaro has a no good 350 olds motor and trans. the frame and sub frame is in strong condition. the car has around 83,000 original miles. the body has mostly surface rust but kinda bad and one spot has been patched. the floor and the trunk floor need replaced due to rust holes. the interior is rough, the seats need replaced or reappoilstered and i dont know if the dash is with the car. currently all the wires for the dash is hanging down. the car need a frame off body restoration. the guy is asking $900 obo and i dont know if i should buy it or not. in 1971 they only made 8,377 ss out of 114,630 total produced. that is the only reason why im interested in it. i dont think its a split bumper camaro because the ss symbol on the grill is not centered horizontally so there must of been some bumper that ran across the grill
thats a lot of work. 900 is probably fair if itr is a real SS. I guarantee you that the mileage is not 83k original. If it was, there would not be an Olds engine in it. It would still havet he original – why would someone swap an 83k mile engine?
Bear in mind that you will spend a fortune putting it back together. Well more than it will be worth restored. So unless you have a lot of cash to put into it, you may find that the job is overwhelming.
