Can any one tell me what to expect at my lisence restoration hearing ?
I had my drivers lisence revoked after having 2 imparied driving tickets in the same year. Its been almost 2 years sience I have driven a car. My hearing date is coming up real soon. Im just curious to know what takes place at these hearings. What kind of questions they asked/answers you gave, what worked for you or what didnt work. Im from Michigan , I dont know if that matters but I think it might. Any advise would be appreciated, especially from people who have gone through with it in Michigan. Thanks.
Mass. is similar to NJ. Automatic jail for two weeks, minimum, before any hearing. More jail time may be mandated. Loss of license for a year. AA classes, drunk school (about $3000), court fees ($3000), insurance surcharges for about a 50% increase (for 10 years). And now, we have a new law here. It used to be that if you stayed clean for ten years your previous DUI charges disappeared. But now, there is no statute of limitations. Each charge sticks with you for life. So, if I EVER get caught a second time, in ANY state, I will have to pay the penalties of second offense here. If you took a Breathalyzer test and failed, there is pretty much nothing you can do. You are BUSTED. I blew .24; our limit is .08. I never stood a chance and knew it. I plead no contest. Got a year probation. Cost me over $2000 plus insurance surcharges for ten years – first offense. I don’t get drunk and drive anymore.
By the way – I hope you are not under age. The penalties I described are meager compared to second offense under agers.
