Something wrong with this engine?
I’m in the market for a classic muscle car project, and I came across an excellent find: a 68 GTO with a 400 and his or her shifter. I am just getting into muscle car restoration,and long story short I’m a novice when it comes to engines. I have a picture of the engine and I’m wondering if you see anything wrong with it. I know many mechanics, and all say that they need to actually see the car to be able to diagnose – you can’t rely on a single pic. I understand, but what I am asking is from this very picture, does anything seem weird, out of place, or damaged (excuse the fact that it is dirty):

The guy says it has a new rebuilt 1971 400 in it, new manifold & Carb, starter,etc. Just wonderin if it looks ok. All help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Yes it runs, and he says tranny has a leak. I could get the car for 4500, not too bad of a deal…
Fuel line going around the thermostat housing, will cause vapor lock. Move the filter back along the block and then rehose from the filter to the carb.
Missing nut on breather cover. don’t remember a hose coming out of the intake like that, but it has been a while.
I have always dealt with ford and chevy, so I am confused by the apparent angle on the exhaust.
Thats about all I see.
