1986 Olds 442, how many were made in the US with a 305 engine?
My husband and I have a 1986 Oldsmobile 442. It’s obviously a custom car, due to the two tone original paint. When we Car Faxed it, it shows it was made in the U.S. All numbers, and I mean all numbers are matching. In 1986, the only 442’s that were made in the U.S. had 307 engines. Now, this is why we are stumped. It says that we have a 305 engine. Manufactured and assembled in the U.S. Can anyone tell me a website that could tell me if this is true or not? Any information is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
According to Autozone’s website, 5% of ALL V-8 Cutlasses had Chevy 305’s in them, while the other 95% had Olds 307’s. I couldn’t find a breakdown of 442’s specifically. Gotta love GM. There was one year where the Electra would have had 1 of 4 different 350’s-Chevy, Olds, Buick, or Pontiac. Now why did GM go bankrupt again…..?? Hope this helps.
