Any ideas for a new career?
My husband wants to change careers. We have had some ideas, but are interested in hearing others…in case there is something we may have overlooked. Currently, he is the Finish Department Manager for custom cabinet shop. He does inventory control, ordering, painting, talks to clients, and directs the staff in his dept. We are concerned about his health because of the heavy fumes. The second reason is that this industry usually does not offer any benefits. He has thought about making the transition to car detailing and painting, but he senses that he would have to go to school to get a decent paying position.
About him: He is one of those people who is very handy around the house. He enjoys being a finisher (painting). He is a hands on person. His personal interests/talents are painting, singing (he used to be in a band), and video/computer games. We are interested in running our own business, but there would have to be little start up. Any ideas? Please be specific.
if he is a handy person, and it sounds like he is, why not start a business where you buy homes and fix them up and resell them, you don’t need tons of money to begin, you may need around 10% down on a house, sometimes you can fo 100% financing if your credit is good. need a good home inspector to make sure you find all the bad things wrong with a house so you can make an accurate estimate on how much time and labor it will be to fix the problem….also need a good real estate sales person on your side……..he probably has a few friends that are also handy and he can hire them part time and pay them cash to help with the project, people are always looking to make a little money on the side.
