Where to install an Evo 5 bodykit on 1999 Mirage in Georgia…???
I just purchased and received a full autobodykit from a manufacture by the name of drifteffects and im looking for a good place somewhere in georgia that will install and possibly paint it for me as well…I was guessing that I would take the kit to Maaco and have them paint it(and possibly the rest of the car), then have a local body shop put it on my 1999 Hunter Green 2dr Mirage…Any recommendations would be appreciated…I live in the Atlanta Area and ive called a couple of body shops but no one seems to be very knowledgable about body kits…
Some body shops dont really like to deal with bodykits.
Even though they are nothing more than “Replacement Bumpers”. They tend to try and steer away from them because some are cheaply made and fear that the customer will come back to them saying they did a bad job when its actually the product. Other times bodykits require prep whereas OEM stuff are quick and easy bolt ons.
I would recommend NOT going to Macco…not because of the reputaton thats floating around but mainly because you shouldt get the kit painted first.
You should have it installed or semi installed to make sure the fitment is ok…good…or great. If any adjustments need to be made…they can be done there on the spot…because if you got the kit painted 1st…youre kinda SOL and may need to get the kit painted again…if theres a fitment issue.
Additionally, a freshly painted kit…wouldnt really look that great contrast against an older painted car. If you can…try and get the kit painted and blended…so you cant really tell that the kit is the only thing thats new.
So…take it to a shop…tell them you have replacement bumpers and you wanted them installed and painted.
Have them make sure the kit fits great…then have it painted.
