How do I get into building model cars, airplanes, etc..?
Where do I buy them, get the paint, glue, and brushes, and how much do the accessories cost?
Ive built model vehicles since i was a kid, the place i get mine? Well most stores used to carry alot of them, but the only ones now ive seen is Wal-mart or Hobby shops. They have some paint supplies at WM – carry both plastic and diecast kits- the hobby stores would have more accessories, like custom wheels, engine kits, ect. To give the vehicles a better finish, i use regular automotive paint in the spray cans.
You can buy an air compresser for models for custom painting .
Plastic kits usually run in the $11 range
Metal kits run in the $15 and up, for larger ones – smaller kits are around $12
Paint ( small enamel bottles) set- around $10
Spray paint- $4 a can
Air compresser – $ 100-200 for a good one
Brushes – $5
Model glue – $5
I used to build some stock and some wild customs – the customs would barely look anything like the kits – dont be confined in how the kit is supposed to be – be creative.
